Today, we’re putting everything together!
Just as you have different clothing for certain occasions, you can have handwriting styles for certain purposes: quick handwriting for notes, neat handwriting when someone else needs to read it, and beautiful handwriting when you want something to feel special.
The style we’re learning is based on monoline Spencerian, a simplified version of traditional Spencerian penmanship.
The zigzag pattern you’ve practiced in Days 1 & 2 maps directly to the structure of Spencerian letters. Those straight downstrokes create the guide sheet, giving you consistent slant, height, width and spacing.
Repetition is what turns the structure into muscle memory; eventually you won’t have to think so hard about every line and curve.
Grab a pen and the Day 3 worksheets. The pages will take you through each letter step by step:
There’s no need to finish every line in one sitting. Slow, intentional practice is more important than filling the page.
